What is your role with Langstane? |
General Assistant with the Association’s DLO (Direct Labour Organisation)
What are the key parts of your role? |
My job mostly involves carrying out periodic “scheme tidies” of around six schemes per day. This comprises litter picking, sweeping up, tidying bin stores, etc. I also carry out minor repairs, occasionally assist other colleagues in the DLO, be it the Joiners, Electrician or Plumber, and sometimes also assist some of our contractors such as Heatcare.
What is it that you love about your job? |
This job is actually my “retirement job”. I took early retirement from working as a Chartered Surveyor / Maintenance Manager with another housing association in Aberdeen four years ago, and duly embarked on my new career to keep me occupied and to help keep me fit. I love that my job is stress free and really enjoy getting out and about in my van, and dealing with tenants, colleagues and contractors alike.
What is your top career tip? |
Be friendly to everyone, and never burn any bridges!
